>>> David Rust's Work

David Rust trained at Loughborough under the famous portrait painter Brian Organ. He then started his artistic career as a portrait painter for which he received considerable acclaim. When Shell House Gallery moved to Ledbury in 1979 David became so enchanted with the countryside that he not only moved to Herefordshire, but also concentrated on watercolour landscapes.

His delicate style and purist approach to his medium conveys his love and empathey for the West of the country and particularly the Malvern Hills. The strength of his paintings comes from many hours of outdoor observation of atmosphere, form and texture from which he derives the stimulus for his pictures. His work has been hung at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at the Mall Galleries, and in private collections throughout the world.

David has now moved to Cornwall but still returns to Herefordshire to sketch for his regular exhibitions.
