Terry
McKivragan's Work
Born in Cheshire Terry McKivragan
studied at Wimbledon Art School, gaining his National Diploma
in Design. Then followed a career in commercial art as a designer,
illustrator and art director culminating in the running of his
own graphic design studio.
As an illustrator, he developed a love for watercolours which,
inspired by such as the later works of Turner, grew in strength
so that he left the commercial world concentrating on watercolour
painting and later, in acrylics - a medium that lends itself
to paintings with a more impressionistic and bolder technique
exploring the use of colour and textures. These paintings brought
successes including Britain's Painters [Best Acrylic award].
The Hunting Prize. Finalist's Exhibition, The Laing Art Competition
National Exhibition and the RI Medal Award as well as the Royal
Academy Summer Exhibition. Ian's work is also included in two
publications -'Acrylics Masterclass' - a book which discusses
the work and techniques of nine artists, and 'Paint! Seascapes
& Waterways' where his approach to the subject is demonstrated.
He is a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours
and has exhibited at the Mail Galleries in London with the NEAC,
the RBA and the RSMA and is a member of the Chelsea Arts Society.
Terry's paintings are to be found in various galleries round
the country, and in private and corporate collections throughout
the UK and abroad.
